Rendevous with Mumbai- The Gals Day Out

#Shopping , Eating and Gossiping – this is the recipe for an ideal gals day out.

After the exam, me , alli and chachi met at hill road. When a street like linking road or hill road is around, gals waste lil time. So, there was like telepathy amongst us and we headed right for our street shopping. The next one hour was spent checking out clothes, bags ,accessories, chappals and more.
#Gals also do a lot of speculative shopping. Like ,we checked out a few summer dresses at a store which we would wear on our trip to goa. LOL… that trip is on the list since last 2 years! You see, while guys embark on trips quite spontaneously, the plans of gals are controlled by variables more than that involved in Bernoulli’s equation and are more complex that the derivation of euler’s formula.

N no I don’t remember either of them and so I should not be contacted for any reference on the same! Simply put, when it comes to gals, plans are complicated.

we managed to procure a few things after substantial bargaining, and the next thing on the list was food.

# gals like to eat in installments .Our first one was at this food joint where we called for a pav bhaji, a masala dosa, and a veg cheese toast. Variety , we believe, is the spice of life. Food was finished almost instantly , but what’s an eve without yakking !

So we headed for Bandstand, n I was happy at this idea. The place was jostling with people, couples to be precise. We gals went to explore the dim lit beach, with love birds all around indulging in each other– well it was 14th feb ,so I guess they had the license today !

and here we were , colg time friends , sitting on the beach, eating sweet corn (don’t pay 5 bucks extra for the butter, it tastes good without it too) … talking about stuff and having a gala time.

On our way back to the bandra station, we asked our auto wala to show us the places of shahrukh and salman. There is a strange fascination we all have with celebs, even when we all know they are just people like us. Mannat , we missed but we did catch salman’s building. There was a huge crowd of people waiting to catch a glimpse of the actor. As our auto passed, a car emerged from salman’s society which was followed by a huge roar from the crowd. We thought we got lucky and would get to see salman, but our misconception broke soon and we realized it was someone else who got to enjoy the attention, cause he resided in the same block.

The evening ended with reminisces of our hostel life and the fun we had in college. Later we headed towards our places, and a resolution to work towards our goa trip. But , like I said before , when it comes to gals, plans are complicated.

Epilogue – Morning 7.50 I took a train back to pune. My very first train journey all alone J . My experiences from past have taught me not to talk to strangers and avoid oily food in train. I had idlis for breakfast …fermented food is preferable over anything oily, specially if you fall in the ‘Watch your weight’ zone.

I put my headphones on to avoid any irrelevant conversation with people around and gazed out of the window –the sayadris is a beautiful range, I plan to embark on a rappelling camp sometime soon. This is another thing that has been on my list for long, besides a trip to goa.

Like I said before, when it comes to gals, plans are complicated.:)

Thanks Mate ;)

Its surprising how some people can just haul you out of a bad mood.

My entrance exam results didn’t turn out well yet another year, and I had pretty much lost interest in everybody and everything around me. I had cocooned, trying to escape the ignominy of my failures. I hadn’t flashed a real smile for a great while. A guy whom I confide into did his bit to intensify my miserable state- he managed it by keeping aloof of the events in my life and playing his usual reticent self.

I longed for a soulful conversation, the one which was able to suck out the negativity from me , give me some hope , revive me, perk me up, restore my lost confidence and just tell me – It happens dear ,keep going !
I scrolled through my phonebook, stopped at few names, but ceased to call them thinking, they had their own problems.

Later that night , I had a chat wid my close bud, we discussed old times –times we had fooled around -shared good laughs , shared our sorrows and shared our joys ….. and for the first time in weeks I flashed a real smile. I actually chuckled a few times, at reminiscence of a legend ;) Its surprising how some people can just haul you out of a bad mood.
